As I sometimes do, I got on a bit of a rabbit trail on youtube. Came across this short and just thought I'd watch the first part. Didn't take time though for me to be laughing out loud. (which is hard to get me to do at times..)I ofcourse, got involved and watched the whole thing. Then I immediately started quoting it to my friends, and sharing it with them which then made me want to watch it AGAIN! Very fun piece of entertainment. Love the two characters. Agree with some of the others. I wish it was longer. I find their chemistry and interaction very entertaining and could watch them for hours. Harry and Charlie own their characters perfectly. A must watch! .. and you might end up watching it a few dozen times more.

I too saw this film at the Kansas City film festival and I have to say out of all of the films that I saw over that weekend this one took the cake. I didn't know what to expect from this movie, but after watching Oscar & Jim all of those films weren't even close to you guys. This whole movie was my highlight of the whole weekend. And most of all I learned some new and very unique stuff about Jim Morrison. BEST MOVIE THAT IVE SEEN ALL YEAR!

I happened to catch Oscar & Jim at the KCfilmfest this past weekend. It was in a section with about 4 other shorts from around the world and I have to say that me and most of my friends agree, this was by far the best of the group. We not only quoted the film right after we got out, but we were quoting it the next day, and for a couple of days after. It was funny, something that seemed to be missing from most of the other films we watched while we we're there. The story doesn't seem like much when you first hear about it, two lovers spending the weekend in Paris. One wants to see the grave of Oscar Wilde, and the other wants to see Jim Morrison. We quickly realize they both don't any idea why they want to see the graves, only that they do. over the next 30 minutes all you'll do is laugh your head off. My only wish is that it would be longer, somehow fleshed into a full length movie.

Oscar and Jim was well worth the wait! It was a fun movie. I think everyone has been in a similar situation with a significant other. I love the style of the movie--Chapter scenes are one of my favorite styles. Charlie and Harry we're a good pair. Charlie has a very strong presence and Harry is the romantic and friendly counterpart.
I'd have to team with Gerry-Jim was quiet a guy despite the fact he wasn't as famous and such a great impression as Oscar. Jim was a huge part in the '60s and 70's with his words in his short life time. His grave was more loved then when he had his followers back then. Oscar is the man and the popular one everyone sees with his gorgeous grave of poetry says quiet a lot about his effect on people still to this day.

I ordered this movie on a whim. In fact, I blame Oscar. Erm, Stephen Fry. While watching WILDE on YouTube, I noticed the trailer for this film posted underneath as a 'video response'. One click led to a clip of a bizarre, yet oddly endearing story set in the famous Pere-Lachaise cemetery of Paris. A clip that I watched again, and then again... until I gave finally in to curiosity, went to the site and ordered the DVD... Yay, whim.

OSCAR AND JIM is the type of clever, innovative storytelling that makes film enjoyable. The plot is deceptively simple, the characters, fairly ordinary people, but the movie itself is a little gem. The dialogue is funny and snappy, without being cynical, and Charlie Covell and Harry Lloyd have great chemistry. The soundtrack, although minimal (it is a short, after all) complements the film's structure, and the use of 'chapters' enables the audience to glimpse multiple facets of Emma and Gerry's relationship without being bogged down by too much exposition (which has ruined many a flick).

I definitely will recommend OSCAR AND JIM to others. Who would have thought that watching two people lost in a graveyard could be so much fun? Definitely time and money well spent.

Not too long and not too short: perfect choice! I loved so much the moment when they decide to act lovey-dovey and we see the statue of the woman who hide her eyes.. That was great, from the beginning to the end. Charlie Covell and Harry Lloyd are a perfect match :)

People are strange. This is the truth, and this is what this short brings to the table for anyone willing to watch and listen. Have you ever had a friend or partner who is so completely different that your mind boggles at the very words that come out of their mouth? Do you have a friend that you get into the strangest conversations with and think people would actually throw you into a psychiatric ward if they ever heard? And yet; you wouldn't have it any other way.

Oscar and Jim is every stupid argument you've ever had. Every adventure you didn't know you were having. Every person you loved that you couldn't understand half the time. Every stubborn moment of your life and every normal day you thought might be extraordinary. You laugh when you don't expect it. You fall in love with Emma and Gerry in the shortest space of time. You find yourself wanting to know where their future is leading them.

Just occassionally you find a promising actor you decide to follow and from across the globe you'll stumble across something special as a result.

Harry Lloyd was that actor and Oscar and Jim is that film.

I saw this film at the RI International Film Festival as 1 of over 75 films (out of 235). Everything was right with this film...the screenplay, the acting, videography...all worked together for an amazing film that delighted us all. A must see for anyone interested in quality film. I'm looking forward th the teams next venture.

Oscar and Jim: a wonderfully bizarre comedy - thoroughly recommended and enjoyed.

After repeated watching, the appeal has yet to wear off. The jokes are still fresh, the dialog still funny. It is, in my opinion, nothing short of a quirky, perfect little cinematic gem.

Its use of chapters ties together structurally many difficulties traditional editing could not.

Even when it is obvious they could both do with a swift and decisive kick, you cannot help but feel sorry at times for the main characters; they are both charming and well constructed... and work well within the absurdity of it all.

For a movie less about Wilde and Morrison and more about the self-discovery of two star-crossed lovers in a Parisian necropolis... this has been a very exciting, wild little ride. Bravo!

I would love to see this fleshed out. I want to see more of this story. I want to know more about these two people, where they came from and where they are going. And being such a short, tightly focused story, it's all about the performances.

Charlie Covell just pops off the screen. I am now officially a fan. On first viewing she was the only thing I could look at, as hard as I was trying to look at Harry. She truly inhabits Emma and knows her from all directions. A really excellent performance.

Harry Lloyd has a very good bead on who Gerry is and what his aims are. I also love, love, love the way Harry delivers his big speech in scene IX. Best part of the entire film. Only thing is, we still don't have an answer to our question about the logistics of Emma's tights ;-)

And the comic timing, from both of them, is absolutely spot on.

This is one of the very few films in existence I can watch, with the sound on, over and over again, without getting bored. And that is a feat in itself.

I wasn't quite sure this production would work out very well but I'm glad to say I was wrong.
Oscar & Jim combines funny, bizzare and cheeky writing with cleverly timed acting. The deceptively simple nature of the plot belies a surprisingly funny script with the help of two exceptionally talented actors. Altogether it makes for great entertainment.

Well done all involved. Can't wait to see more.

Excellent, witty, intelligent and natural performances. Smart production of a neat sript which offers more each time you encounter it. Also love the whatyoucallits announcing the scenes and the opening shots plus cutaways. Great short - looking forward to more from Anchovy.

For me, (and this is a purely personal thing) a good film needs to contain these three essentials:
1, A Good Story Line with Witty and Engaging Banter.
2, Some Sex.
3, A Car Chase
As Meatloaf so wisely sang 'Two out of Three Aint Bad'
Oscar and Jim - Loved it.
You Weatherwick Boys... Give us more!

A very clever, witty (laugh out loud) film - well constructed and executed. A simple plot with a smart script and two excellent young actors in a graveyard - what more do you need?

Thoroughly recommended!
